Confesso di aver 'lottato' molto con gli occhi, e non sono venuti proprio come dovevano. Ma siccome la carta è di una qualità molto fine rischiavo di rovinare tutto insistendo troppo, per cui ho deciso di pubblicare il ritratto così com' è venuto e al limite riprovare un'altra volta.
I confess I have been struggling quite a lot with the eyes, they didn't turn out exactly the way they should have. But being the paper of a thinner quality I didn't want to take the risk of ruining it altogether, so I decided to show the portrait just the way it is, and eventually try another time.
Very good and very recogniseable from the photo reference.

RispondiEliminaYo creo que has captado la esencia de la juventud del retratado, incluyendo la transparencia de su mirada, el color del pelo y la tersura de su piel joven. Tal vez en tu trabajo el ángulo de la cabeza no es exactamente el mismo que en la fotografía que nos enseñas, pero a mi me parece un trabajo magnífico, que no retocaría para mantener su esencia, su gran frescura.

Hi Jane ... thank you for joining my blog, great to see you there! :) Your portrait is very good and so are the eyes. If I may suggest, the only thing I would change is the highlight on George's right eye. (on the left looking at the page. If you bring it down slightly it will balance it up. Great artwork! :)
RispondiEliminayou've got a good likeness jane .. the angle of the face is slightly different from the ref photo prehaps that's what makes you feel the eyes aren't right..right not to re work it ...i'm making lots of sketches of my family at the moment ..it's ver challenging
RispondiEliminaJane this is very good work! To add drama the artist in me wonders what a shadow glaze across the forehead brow, eye area and down the side of the nose would do! There is a darker shadow in those areas that would incorporate continuity to the whole piece.

RispondiEliminaFantástico, Jane. Has captado perfectamente la expresión del retratado. Me parece complicadísimo el tema de los retratos y tú lo bordas. La semejanza es enorme, puede estar satisfecho Giorgio. He estado durante dos semanas sin poder hacer comentarios en los blogs por problemas en mi propio blog...parece que se ha solucionado.

Jane, it's good. You're right about the eyes, but you have done a great job with the shadows of Giorgio's head and neck, and his hair is perfect. My only thought would be to give his head the tilt it has in the photo; I think it will give the portrait more verisimilitude.
