Acquerello Botanico 1( Botanical Watercolors 1 )

Acquerello

Acquerello

When I started the 'adventure' of painting , the debut was with the botanical watercolor painting technic. It is  a technic that I still love, but I don't do it anymore, because first of all you need a lot of patience ( not my strong side) and second you need an enormous magnifying glass in order to see what you are doing. Everything is very small ( starting with the brushes ) and very precise, the contrary of the more free style of today. But I wanted to show you these works , and I am very curious to hear your comments :-))
The reference photo of the third watercolor is of a painting by Bridgette James, a member of  'The Society of Botanical Artists' .

    :)

    Besos y felicitaciones!

  2. Wow, they are so precise and detailed! It is hard to imagine the same hands creating the free and loose paintings today... BTW these flowers look very much alive, unlike some realistic paintings which make the subjects seem stiff and kind of "plastic".

  3. These are wonderful. I think this is an important part of your background. Because you had to be precise and have knowledge of your flowers, you can now be loose. We win.

(I do love the top one--poppies?)

    gros bisous

  8. I admire botanical works for their technical brilliance - but my heart prefers your looser flowers :) xx

  9. I'm with Pat. I admire it very much but I prefer your loose style!

  10. Jane, splendidi questi acquerelli.

  13. When I first saw the botanicals, I had to double-check to see if they were indeed yours! I was flabbergasted. The two styles are SO different. As for which I like - both. You know from my painting, I do a more precise and realistic style, but I truly admire and aspire to a looser and more emotional style. Bravo, Jane, and Hugs!

Felicidades!

  16. mojn igen Jane

  22. Cara Maritza, hai sempre parole molto gentile, ti ringrazio tanto. Un abbraccio grande.

Blaga, I'm happy you like them even though it is so different. Hugs

Hallie I think you've got a point, it is easier to abstract from something when you know exactly how it SHOULD be.

Chere Martine.

Knuser

Pat and Judy thanks for your sincerity! xox

Bravissima Miriam, proprio così! Un abbraccio

Cara Gabe, apprezzo la tua sincerità!

    Grazie Simo.

Kathryn you really made me smile imagining you double checking :-) You know I like your style a lot, and you are so talented in sketching your subjects, but I think most of us aspire to loosen up, and just give a hint of ...whatever, but it is not easy. Big hug to you.

Hi Jane, I know I am exaggerating a bit :-)) ...and yes I also think the botanical background is important in the present style. Hug

Annette, it would be wonderful to paint together, I think we would have so much fun. xx

Arianna

  26. That looks like someone was tied up first and then got his wings free.
The botanical art amazed me always with the details and preciseness (I even follow one bot.blog), but I could do it only as punishment)).
You managed great, this practice explains your good technique in recent paintings for sure. But I am more with your wide, loose and colorful art.

  27. Such beautiful, fine work-to be much admired.

The first one surprised me as it looked like oil. It made me wonder what materials, especially watercolour brand, you used.

Ciaoo

Irina you always make me smile with your good humor, thank you!
